Fantasy Baseball Trading Can Be a PITA
March 29, 2008
No, PITA doesn’t mean I have taken a love for eating rabbit food, and other high fibrous crap. I still like a good steak. Sometimes I wonder what the heck people are thinking when in comes to trading in Fantasy Baseball. I received a few trade offers recently in one of my leagues form the resident idiot. His trades usually go something like Ill give you Evan Longoria and you’re give me Justin Morneau. If there is anyone reading this that would do this trade and receive Longoria , please find something to click away to, you’re an idiot too. Trading in Fantasy Baseball can be a PAIN IN THE ASS, or PITA
There within that offer is the problem. Folks most Fantasy Baseball managers have doen this while and can sniff out another who wants to rape and pillage. Trading in Fantasy Baseball con be fun. Ok back to this guy he has Longoria, who as you know starts in AAA this year and he wants a 1b/3b guy or DH. Then his usual crap about how good Longoria is and how this and that, blah blah. There is a hint for you right there, if a guy tries to sell you on his player or players get the hell away from him. So he comes back with how about you give me Poasada, Morneau and Ill give you Longoria, Russ Martin and a player to be thrown in usually who is on e the DL. Am I a dumb ass or did he just try to add two names and still get over on the deal. So I countered, How about Frank Thomas for Longoria, and he promptly declined. I can’t wait for his next proposal.
More often that not there will be someone in your league who is an active trader. It is also likely that you will have a dumb ass trader too. We call them guppies around my neighborhood. That same guy who offered me the garbage deal will prey on those guppies until he picks them clean. The rest of you have a responsibility to protect the integrity of your fantasy baseball league. Protest his deals whenever possible and write good arguments to your commissioner explaining why the deal is upside down. How about you guys , tell me about some of your deals or proposals. Its all part of the game and a part that becomes a PITA!
Fantasy Baseball News, Draft Names or Stats ?
March 27, 2008
Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Carl Crawford Roy Halladay, Ryan Howard. All name we know. All names we draft on draft day. I have a question, who the heck cares about names when we are in a stats league? Your Fantasy Baseball team should be filled with players who put up stats. It should not be all your favorites. It really is that simple. I played in a league with a guy for years, who wanted every known Yankee on his team , not because they were the best players available, but because they were Yankees. Folks that is not smart. If you are in a money league with a guy like this take his damn money and teach him a lesson.
When ever you need a player or want to draft a player, check his number. Is he producing? If not leave him where he is. If you are going to be successful in any league, and by that I mean wining your league, you will have to find guys on the waiver wire that nobody wanted. I picked up Ryan Braun last year who was on waivers. He turned out to be a good pick up right? Those kind of guys are there every year. Have any if you ever picked up a throw away that turned into a keeper. Tell me all about it in a comment!
Guerrero, Matthews leave game early
March 20, 2008
Vladimir Guerrero was removed from the Angels' lineup Thursday against the Giants with stiffness in his right knee after grounding into a double play in the third inning. Another hot hitter, Gary Matthews Jr., also left the game after the third with a bruised left gluteus. So , Vlad is hurt again , big surprise there and Matthews will have aniother year backing up for his paycheckWill Evan Longoria Make the Rays This Spring
March 19, 2008
Evan Longoria has done nothing not to make the team out of spring training. The Rays are going to be much improved but still lack the power to compete in the AL East. So will they keep him?
I have followed the Rays for years and they always seem to find a way not to keep their prospects out of spring training, but lets look at some stats .333 3 HR’s 9 RBI . His glove is said to be an issue. Who the heck cares. This guy could be another Ryan Braun type of player.
Evan Longoria has hot at every level since he was chills including every professional stop on his way to Spring Training 2008. My advice is to grab him and wait for the Rays. If he spends a month in Durham , stash him away on your bench and you will have power all summer. Evan Longoria could hit 30 plus home runs. Evan Longoria looks to be the real deal.
Who Wants Barry Bonds, Hopefully No One
March 18, 2008
I just completed a draft this week and for the first time ever in my Fantasy Baseball career, Barry Bonds was not chosen. I have been in leagues with one particular manager who normally does whatever it takes to get him and as of this morning he sits on the waiver wire and the reason is simple. Who wants Barry Bonds? Apparently nobody and I couldn’t be happier.
I don’t now know Barry Bonds nor do I know anyone who knows Barry Bonds. Everything I know about Barry Bonds I have read just like most of you. What I do know, I do not like. I don’t like what he represents. He is a cheater in my mind. Don’t give me that crap that he never tested positive for steroids or human growths hormones. I never was caught speeding in my car until the first time I got caught. So tell me, who wants Barry Bonds? So far no one
Earlier this spring his name surfaced in Tampa Bay as a potential part time DH. Now here is a team with a 40 million dollar payroll, who over the winter traded away trouble makers Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes. Why would they want to pay 10Mil + for someone who is going to play 2-3 times a week and demand his own clubhouse cubicle inside the team clubhouse, not to mention special ordering size 10 hats to fit his steroid inflated head. Really who wants Barry Bonds? 2008 is better off without him. Opps I forgot I guess federal prosecutors do.
The facts tell us he hit 762 home runs. As near as I can figure 350 of those had a supplement added. You know, the clear cream he didn’t know he was using. He is a fake. He is a phony. He is a liar. He is through. No, someone will ante up and pay him something so he can try to reach 800 dingers, but buyers beware. Who wants Barry Bonds? For the love of the game, I hope no one does
Jose Reyes or Hanley Ramirez, Who’s Better
March 17, 2008
At the beginning of last year there was debate among my fellow league members about who was a better Fantasy Baseball Player. I traded Derek Jeter and someone else I can’t recall to a Yankees lover and its turned out to be on e of the best trades I have ever been involved in. Here are some quick facts on Hanley Ramirez. In 154 games Ramirez batted .332 with 29 home runs, 81 RBI, 125 runs and 51 steals. He fell one home run shy to become only the third player in baseball history to hit 30 or more home runs and steal 50 or more bases in the same season. Very hard to argue with those numbers don’t you think?
Jose Reyes on the other hand didn’t disappoint either. Although not blessed with the power Ramirez displayed Reyes stole 78 bases scored 119 runs while hitting .280. He added 12 homers. It a classic speed or power debate, Ill take Ramirez , but what say you? Reyes is getting a reputation for being a slacker. I hate that. Its your turn to chime in.
Josh Beckett Out With Hurt Back
March 8, 2008
Josh Beckett’s back went into spasm while warming up for Saturday’s spring training game. The Boston Red Sox ace left without facing a Florida Marlins batter.
Beckett seemed to lose his footing on his last warm-up pitch and called catcher Jason Varitek to the mound. Beckett put his right hand on the lower middle part of his back and soon was joined by manager Terry Francona and teammates. The right-hander walked to the dugout without an apparent limp.
Beckett was the only 20-game winner in the majors last season
Fantasy Baseball News Analysis
Beckett has been an injury risk since he broke into the Major Leagues so plan accordingly. He will be on the DL at some point or points during the season, he always is
